What is Progressive Ministries?
Progressive Ministries Uganda is a faith-based 501c3 nonprofit orphanage/school that cares for vulnerable children and orphans in Kabale, Uganda. We believe all children have great potential regardless of their economic status. Poor children have few options to help them discover God's purpose for their lives. In poverty, they are forced to focus on survival. Daily life is a constant struggle. It's our desire to remove this obstacle and provide a place where children can discover their God-given gifts and talents, reach their full potential, and become positive change-makers in our world.
With the support of our great team of professional teachers and non-teaching staff, we house, feed, and provide Christian education and job-skills training to the children in our care. Most come from broken and needy families unable to support their education. Without education, no job training, and no opportunities result in the next generation repeating the cycle of poverty. We want to break this vicious cycle.
Our goal is to be a self-sustainable ministry and believe this is a critical component to true community development. It’s important that we also contribute to the ministry in partnership with you and model this mindset to our children. Absolute dependency on outside sources often takes away the motivation to work and reach one’s full potential. Income generating activities like our tourism van, our cow project, and caregiver volunteers create jobs and help keep our operational cost low, but there is still more to do. This is our first orphanage/school. Once it is self-sustainable, our hope is to open other locations like it to meet the great need in Uganda. We need your support as we move towards this goal.

How We Are Making A Difference
We serve our children in Kabale, Uganda by providing the following:

Education
We have a great team of professional teachers and the children attend school six days a week. Students are provided with school materials, text books, and uniforms.
Housing
Housing dormitories and personal hygiene items are provided for a large number of our children. Our staff also live on campus along with our security person to further ensure the safety of our kids.
Food
Children and our staff receive four meals a day. Food preparation is done onsite by our cooking team and includes: Breakfast porridge, snack, lunch, and dinner.
Spiritual Development
The children receive a Christian and academic education at our school. They attend chapel meetings and Bible classes alongside their general education.
Job Skills Training
The children are taught agricultural skills and animal husbandry as part of their education. As we grow, future vocational skills may include: Arts/Crafts, Auto mechanics, Cooking, Cosmetology, Computer, Sewing, and Tourism.
Clean Water
Strengthening the community is important to us. We’ve constructed 40 rain water tanks in nearby rural communities. Each tank allows four households access to clean water.
Medical Assistance
Medical care is available to all children in the program. We build relationships with the local hospitals who in turn offer discounted medical services to our children.

Our Current Projects
The New Classrooms Project
Progressive Ministries Uganda needs your help in building ten new classrooms for the children. Currently, the school’s walls are made of wooden posts and the floor is dirt. Termites continue to infest the wooded walls making it vulnerable to weakening the structure, which is unsafe for the children. Our prayer is to build a new school made out of concrete that will last a lifetime. Our goal is to raise $80,000 US dollars to get this project off the ground and completed.
